It’s official, spring has arrived and just in time for the hottest day of the year in London. The glorious sunshine and spring air always put me in the mood for more frequent pub visits because honestly, what’s better than the excitement of changing seasons and everyone in a pub talking about it? 🍻☀️🌸

With BST and lighter evenings just around the corner, post-work pub stops are about to become even more tempting. And now that I’m a dog owner, my little sidekick comes everywhere with me, which has changed my game completely.

Pubs that go the extra mile to welcome dogs are an absolute win; happy me, happy pup, more beers, more good times.

Looking ahead to the weekend, even if the weather isn’t promising, that’s still a great excuse to hit the pub, whether for a quick pint or a Sunday roast. Below is the continuation of the best dog-friendly pubs recommendations in North London.

Today’s a big day because my local boozer for over a decade is reopening after a winter makeover. Excited? Absolutely! Worried? A little. The Lord Stanley has always been a true neighbourhood pub, a place where you meet the regulars and settle in for endless pints. Fingers crossed the refurb keeps the cosy, unpretentious charm we all love while giving it a fresh new feel.

One thing’s for sure, dogs are always treated like VIPs here. Can’t wait to pop in tonight and see what’s changed! Although I won’t be visiting with my puppy today, because I don’t want to worry about anything other than soaking in the relaunch.

The De Beauvoir Arms | De Beauvoir

A lively and welcoming local with a unique charm, especially on sunny days. I dropped by last Saturday, and despite the place being packed, the manager personally came over with a stash of dog treats and gave my little one some extra attention. Add to that a stream of friendly strangers stopping by for cuddles, which gives you that perfect living room kind of vibe.

This is must-visit if you love a pub with a great atmosphere which welcomes dogs like VIPs.

The Southampton Arms | Kentish Town

A proper hidden gem and a pub I’ve loved from the moment I first walked in which was about 14 years ago. There’s something truly special about this place, with their occasional live folk music, an excellent beer selection, and a few simple but outstanding sandwiches (at least, they used to have them).

And two of the best things about this pub?

  1. They love your dogs more than they like you (their words, not mine).

  2. They only serve beer from small, independent UK breweries.

That’s all the reason I need to keep coming back!

The Flask | Hampstead

A short walk from Hampstead Heath, The Flask is a historic gem packed with charm, character, and apparently, a few ghost stories. But what makes it truly great is how welcoming it is for both humans and dogs.

The airy conservatory is the perfect spot to relax post-walk, and the staff always go the extra mile and are ready with a smile and a biscuit for your pup. Whether you’re here for a pint, a meal, or just a rest, this one’s worth a visit.

The Woodman | Highgate

If you find yourself in Highgate after a Heath walk, The Woodman is exactly where you should stop. With classic pub charm, a great pint selection, and a decent Sunday roast, it’s a solid choice for both pub lovers and our furry companions. They even used to have a doggie menu, how cool is that?

It’s been a while since my last visit, but I still remember the spacious beer garden, a gem in any season. Whether you’re in for a few drinks or a full meal, you can’t go wrong here.

So there you have it, more top dog-friendly pubs to add to your list. If you've got a favourite spot that welcomes pups with open arms, let me know! There’s always room for another great pub recommendation. 🍻🐶
